Stress and Hair Loss

Hair Loss can be caused by many issues. One issue which is prevalent in our society is STRESS! Stress can hurt the body emotionally and physically. We have become accustomed to a certain amount of stress and most don't realize that it can be harmful. However, an ongoing high stress level can cause 3 types of hair loss. Alopecia areatea, Telogen effluvium, and Trichotillomania.
Alopecia areatea: Can be caused by a variety of factors, however high stress is included. With this condition, the white blood cells attack the hair follicle and stops the hair growth, causing the hair to fall out.
Telogen effluvium: Can be caused by emotional or physical stress. Stress causes the body to place larger than usual amount of hairs into a resting phase. Within a couple of months, the hairs at rest fall out while combing or washing your hair.
Trichotillomania: Can be caused by stress, anxiety, tension, fatigue, frustration or lonliness.  It is the urge to pull at your eyebrows, eyelashes, or hair from the scalp.

These conditions do not have to be permanent. Stress management can help with the hair loss. Also a scalp stimulating massage or shampoo, can also help with hair loss.
